June seemed like the perfect time to draft a blog post about our logo. There's a crazy long story about how this came about. I'll attempt to give you the shorter version. It all started on a beach in Mexico @ Brandi Carlile's Girls Just Wanna Weekend party. My wife and I met 2 amazing besties from New York, one of which (Chris) happens to be a badass boss lady at Tangible Agency. We discussed (over many margaritas) the idea I had to start a t-shirt store that sold high quality shirts (produced in the USA) and catered to everyone, especially my own LGBT community. Fast forward a few weeks later and she produced this awesome logo (and several others) for me to take a look at.
As soon as I saw it, I knew it was me. Anyone who knows me well knows that when I am drinking and having a good time, I throw up the rock on sign constantly for photos. I have no idea when this started, but it dates back to as long as I have digital pictures of myself and continues through to this day (even at my wedding).
The best part is that Chris didn't know this about me, yet based on my personality and branding ideas, still produced exactly what represents me. (Sidenote - this is why Chris and Tangible are sooo amazing!!!) After some back and forth discussions, I had her add the equality sign to the wrist. I wanted it loud and clear that here at Threaded Wit, equality is at the forefront of everything we produce, message, and do.
So about that logo....The logo represents having fun, bringing people together, and seeing us all as equals. That's what I want our shirts to do, and what I want this brand to do. Because of that ideology, you'll see a lot of uplifting and funny messages on our shirts and things related to activities that bring us together - sports, drinking, MUSIC, and laughter.
